The Rev. Britta Meiers Carlson is a PhD student in practical theology at the Boston University School of Theology. Her areas of research include ecclesiology, organizational practice, and Liberation Theology. She is particularly interested in the ways multicultural faith communities organize themselves in order to honor the cultural and ecclesial realities of those present. Pastor Britta discerned these research interests during her call as the developer of Nuevo Amanecer, a multicultural, Spanish language ministry in the diverse and rapidly changing neighborhood of East Boston, Massachusetts. She looks forward to the opportunity to view some of the practical challenges she has encountered in ministry through an academic lens that is both sociological and theological.
